The title alone, 2017: The Year You Make Travel Happen, is very interesting as it is forceful and in your face. It is not suggesting to people that they travel or saying here’s why you should travel; it is flat out telling people that they are going to make travel happen. The tone this sets the post off in an exhilarating manner as being told what to do is such an aggressive way is not something people are used to. This tone combined with the topic of making things happen in your own life aims to inspire people to go out a travel, to take control of their lives. Phrases like “Tomorrow is the day to hit the gym, give up pizza, read more, or find that cheap trip to Paris.” aim to take advantage of the few minutes of adrenalin that people get from reading about life changing decisions and make them use that adrenalin in doing something. Again, the author even offered to plan the trips of the first five people to send him the photos of their booked flights. In order to take advantage of such an offer people would have to move quickly before they could overthink and back out. This compelling and inspiring tone offers proof of how invested this post was in getting people to travel. The more people the author can get to travel the more can experience his lifestyle and the opportunities that author feels only travel can bring to their …show more content…
The audience this post aims to capture is not those who already experience travel or don’t want to travel but rather those who limit themselves from traveling purely based on the idea that they can’t make it happen. The author writes “Now, I know that you, dear reader, have a sense of adventure. You’re reading this blog, right?” so it is clear he is reaching out not to those who lack an adventurous spirit but rather those that have an adventurous spirit and do not have the confidence or comfort to access it themselves. The author is using this post to encourage these people to travel and teach them how to travel because he feels it is his duty, after experiencing so much for himself, to allow them the same opportunities that he has had.
2017: The Year You Make Travel Happen is clear-cut in its purpose as a blog post. From the first read it effortless to grasp just how much traveling means to the author. His writing is compelling to the point that it is plain to see he is exasperated by people’s inability to grasp that travel doesn’t have to be complicated. This post wants to reach those that think that travel is impossible for them and show them they don’t have to think that way. With a whole blog dedicated to travel it is clear the author wants other to experience what he has and he is using this post to tell them to do

What does it truly mean to be intellectual? Some may say that being intellectual means being book smart, while others say that it is being street smart. In an entry of “Hidden Intellectualism” by Gerald Graff, Graff believes that one can actually become intellectual if they start learning about topics they actually enjoy and then slowly start easing into challenging topics. While many argue that intellectualism is limited to the studies of school, non-academic activities such as traveling and truly experiencing these events can teach one about the history of a place, the culture, and how to solve problems. When asked why people decide travel they just say that they travel for vacation, but what they do not realize is that traveling is a learning experience.…

Did you know that the average American travels 13,346 miles per year? But, why do we travel so much? When we embark on journeys, we may all have different objectives or reasons on why we took that journey. But, in the end, journeys are meant to teach us something that can drastically change our lives. Something that Odysseus from The Odyssey by Homer, Kira Salak from The Cruelest Journey: 600 Miles to Timbuktu, and the character from ¨The Journey¨ by Mary Oliver all have in common is that the characters all learned a lesson that heavily impacted the way they lived day to day.…

Traveling is an activity that numerous people look forward to and often leaves these people with a story tell. Author, Michael Pollan wrote Hawaii’s Wild Side where he informs readers of his family’s adventure to what he refers to as the wild side of Hawaii which is geographically known as the island of Kauai (Pollan Travel + Leisure). Pollan begins his article by constructing his credibility, appealing emotional to readers, and his use of logic; however, there are still a few weakened points throughout the way. Normally, an adult jumping in a puddle would be weird, but what if I told you the adult jumping in the puddle was measuring the depth of the puddle, and measuring the amount of rain that fell yesterday? I believe curiosity is what drives people to do things that normal people would consider weird.…

In comparison, the point of travelling encapsulates a much less pretentious design with a modest array of green and black. The author, Geo D. Oliver, is displayed holding a phone as to highlight the how his experiences and his opinions will be the focus of the article. The format appears to be straightforward but stylish, which pleasantly nicely caters towards the casual everyday traveller. ‘Tourism is a social, cultural and economic phenomenon which entails the movement of people to countries or places outside their usual environment for personal or business/professional purposes’(UNWTO, 2014). The tourism industry has expanded rapidly worldwide over recent years and progressively become an essential element of the world economy. There are many reasons for the expansion of the tourism industry such as the vast improvements in transport technology and infrastructure, allowing more and more people from geographically diverse regions to travel and explore with greater ease and fewer restrictions. Many countries have utilised these opportunities to accelerate their own tourism industries and are seeing high levels of growth and…
