In the Bible, there are two creation stories portrayed in Genesis. The first creation story is written by the Priestly author and the second creation story was written by the Yahwist. The Priestly author focuses on worship and gives the Pentateuch a coherent framework. The Priestly author gave the first five books of the Bible their final form. The Yahwist source has an anthropomorphic view of God, and gives the Pentateuch a basic outline. The two sources are similar but portray the story of creation differently. The two stories both reveal important known religious truths; There is one God, God planned for creation, Everything God made is good, and the Sabbath is a day of rest and worship.
