The Wounds Of War Are Not Always Easy To See Meaning

Improved Essays
The advertisement I have chosen is depicting a man, wearing a suit, who is longingly looking into a mirror. However, the mirror is not reflecting himself currently, but his past. In the mirror he is wearing an army uniform. The caption that goes along with the advertisement says the following "The wounds of War are not always Easy to See." The product that is being sold is mental help for veterans who have endured pain in their past, and possibly even the present. Better Health the magazine holds this ad, perhaps because the target audience would be those who are looking to lead healthier lifestyles for themselves and those they love. I believe that just by glancing at the picture, an audience from those who read Better Health, would immediately become intrigued by the visual. This is simply because it explains so much truth, and yet is still so complicated that is grabs the attention, and cause the viewer to think about what they are seeing. The viewer would then understand that the soldier is going through pain, yet wants to live a normal life. This causes the viewer to want to help, thus donating money to the foundation. …show more content…
I believe the ad does exactly what is supposed to do, gain the sympathy of consumer to raise donation levels. However, after the viewer realizes the need to help the man portrayed in the advertisement, there is little to no information regarding as to how to do that. Down in the bottom left hand corner, there is a small logo and even smaller than that is the company's website address. This is the only information provided. This may take too much time out a person's day. There should, along with the website, be either a phone number to call, or another form of communication to reach a larger audience of those who want to provide the funds to support

It represents that older adults are useless in society because they have bad memory. I believe one of the most common negative stereotypes that exist about older adult is that they are forgetful, unintelligent, aren’t able to learn new things, and are prone to so-called senior moments. However, this is clearly a false statement because that is being prejudice to older adults and believing that all older adults have bad memory. I chose this advertisement because it represents that aging is not beautiful and that being young is the only definition of being beautiful in the world. It is believed that our society believes that beauty decline when you get old, however, that is clearly being prejudice.…

“Guess by Marciano” Envision for a moment a black and white photo of a woman dressed in a fashionable low cut black wrap dress outlined in black silk, a bow of silk tied at the front left side of her waist bringing attention to her bosom without being too forward. Back resting gently against a weathered rowboat, hands sweeping her short tousled blonde hair behind her head, sprawled out on a beautiful sandy beach. With her knees slightly pulled up to her exquisite tightly dressed waist. Now Picture the same women still featured in black and white, in a field next to a fence, scarf wrapped around her head, cascading down her black shirt, tucked into her sequin skirt, perfectly framing her high cheekbones, luscious naked lips, and slender waste.…

Advertisements are all around us, they have become part of our everyday life. This makes it easier to not pay any attention to them. Since we really are not paying attention to advertisements, it makes the companies who make these ads work harder to get our attention. I have compared two advertisements, although both advertisements are not selling the same, or even similar products, I believe the way they are relaying the message is something they have in common.…

After viewing several commercials and analyzing the persuasive techniques that were used, I found the Gillette razor commercial to be the most influential advertisement for their targeted audience. The targeted audience were men who shave. For example, the commercial used persuasive techniques such as transfer and testimonials. These two techniques worked together to create the image that whoever was using this product would feel as confident and powerful as these famous athletes. The testimonial technique made viewers interested because these famous athletes were using a product, encouraging them to use it to be like them.…

Advertising is a form of marketing communication used to promote something, usually using special techniques to sell items to the general population. The advertisement I picked for this assignment is one that is promoting the proactiv products. Today i’m going to be deconstructing this ad in detail, exposing several persuasive methods that proactiv used in their ad to make it successful. I picked this ad because I felt it incorporated a series of advertising techniques that wouldn't commonly be used to exhibit a product; especially in the beauty industry. I think the main target audience is straight, young, single acne conscious women, but it obviously also applies to people of any gender or sexuality.…

A simple advertisement for BOTOX Cosmetic depicts a close-up face shot of an “actual patient after treatment,” with her face turned slightly to the side so that the audience can see how successful the results of the procedure are. Her face is free of crow’s feet and frown lines between the eyebrows, just as the procedure promises, and one can only assume that a few touchups were made to the image; despite the wonderful results of this one patient, the horrifying list of possible complications and problems give some doubt to the idea of this procedure being safe, so the marketers need the patient to be persuasive. “Reimagine,” the ad reads in a broad, bold text. Beneath it, in smaller letters: “It’s time to take a closer look.” Take a closer…

What is it in ads that just grabs a viewers eyes, is it the words or is it the pictures that draw attention to the ad? A WD-40 ad that grasps my attention uses the words more effectively so than the few pictures on the page that tie into the words. Advertisements today often draw in their viewers with big bold printed words next to pictures. The companies that sell these products make the ad relative to groups of people. In today’s society, we see a lot of ads pointing to sexual or patriotism to attain people’s interest.…

Everywhere we go nowadays, advertisements are prevalent all over; making it difficult to depict an underlying meaning seeing as you are constantly surrounded by them. Whether you are out and about, or sitting at home watching TV, products are constantly being displayed that you “need to get.” Some gimmicks and sayings that are used to promote these services or items are completely ridiculous, or even offending. There are many ads that have hidden messages that pertain to topics such as race, gender, class, and disability that can be stereotypical and insulting. A particular advertisement that caught my attention was an ad campaign from Suitsupply called “Toy Boys” which featured many pictures of men playing on blown up women's bodies like…
