The Worst Day That Have Changed My Life

Just like that it was all taken away from me. Everything that I had worked so hard for didn’t matter anymore. This wasn’t part of the plan. This wasn’t supposed to happen to me. How could it even happen? How could I let it happen? Sitting in the hospital with a broken wrist and a concussion. It hurts my head too much to even think about what happen but I can’t control the frustrated thoughts racing through my mind. Tears are pouring out of my eyes like a faucet that cannot be shut off. As if I am 5 years old, the doctor tries to cheer me up by excitingly asking what color I want my cast to be. I muttered black while I reached my arm out so that the doctor could start wrapping. I closed my eyes and leaned my head back against the wall because …show more content…
It was not just a normal competition but it was the day that olympic recruiters were going to be watching. I had finally reached the age and level where it was possible to qualify. That morning I woke up with the biggest smile on my face. Little did I know that a day that could have changed my life would end up being the worst day that I could ever have. I had my blue and red bag packed for days before. My blue long sleeve leotard which I purpose picked out to match Team USA had been laid out on the couch. I had butterflies in my stomach not from nerves but from all the excitement and anticipation leading up to this day. I had all my friends and family coming to watch me. That morning, everyone showed up at my house for breakfast with the happiest of attitudes. Everyone couldn’t be more thrilled for me. The energy they had been pumping me up even more. I was ready to go. I didn’t care how early I was there, I wanted to get in, practice, and get the show …show more content…
They’re some of the judges.” Coach said to me. It hit me. I started feeling overwhelmed. A million questions raced through my mind. Who was from Team USA? Who wasn’t? Why are they so miserable? If they are that miserable, are they going to take it out on how they judge me? What if they don’t like it? What if I mess up? Omg no, what if I mess up? The double doors opened into the gym and it was a magical moment. It was the biggest gym I ever seen. Everything looked brand new. Hundreds of rows of stadium seats filled the area from the floor up. In the center was a blocked off area. Bright blue mats lined the floor of the sectioned off piece. The beige equipment stood out in the sea of blue. There was no smell of foam or old rusty gym, everything was fresh and exciting. We had a bit of time to start warm ups before the crowd was allowed in. Of course, I wanted to jump right into actually practicing on the equipment but I was given ‘the look’ by my coach. The look that meant sit down, shut up and stretch. While I was sitting on the floor, I noticed that some of the other girls had already been practicing on the bars. “Holy shit they’re good.” Something that I thought I was only thinking about in my head blurted out of my

When I arrived at my enormous new high school for cheerleading auditions, I got lost. It was June, and since classes had just ended, crowds of kids filled the hallways, and I got bumped around like I did not exist. Thankfully, a cheerleader saw me and figured that I had come there for tryouts since I wore shorts, cheer shoes and a big bow in my hair. She took me to the gym where at least sixty girls had shown up to compete. The first thing I saw was cheerleaders doing high level tumbling with no fear.…

As I walk onto the football field for the first game of the season I feel the cool air rise up my spine. I feel the energy from my team as we form together as one, we stand in the corner of the field ready to run out. Our helmets give off a brand new polish since we haven’t used them that much, they shine in the light giving us a bright glisten of navy blue and white. We huddle around and form a circle, our captains start a chant and we follow. When the announcer announces us we storm onto the field breaking the sign, when I take my first couple steps onto the turf I can feel the individual pieces of rubber start to form around my cleat, it feels like a tempur pedic bed the way my cleats sink in, as I walk onto that field for my first Junior…

Three years elapsed, and with those years gone, so were my hardships. The start of my fourth year marked the turning point for me and what made my final year in high school a memorable one. Unlike the years prior where my opinion didn’t matter, my senior year was when I was finally recognized and praised for my abilities. I felt like I was an asset to the team rather than someone who was just taking up space. I was given first priority when the time had come to pick numbers.…
