Fig and I was about fifteen meters away from the LT and PSG (Platoon Sergeant) scanning and pulling security when out of nowhere there was a crack! The next thing I know Fig falls into my knee knocking me to the ground. At this point I really did not know what was going on until I tried to get up and Fig grabs me by the pants and says “dude I think I just got shot!” I freeze and I’m looking down the sights of my M4trying to find out where the shot comes from, by this time my M1151 pulled up behind me and I know that there is security enough to try and see how badly he is injured. I rip open his vest and to my surprise there is very little blood. Fig being the medic I know that he is going to have to talk me through the treatment, because from what I saw it did not look that bad. He tells me “hey we need to go it is bad.” So I yell at my LT and tell him “Sir, Fig is hit we need to go!” So me and the PL load him into the back of my M1151, and I climb in right next to him and tell my SGT “were good to go, let’s MOVE!” Those next ten minutes of my life seemed like an eternity. I looked down shortly after we had left the neighborhood, Fig’s eyes were closed. So all of a sudden my training kicked in I checked for a pulse nothing. Then I started to panic telling myself “he is going to be alright, just help him.” I pull his vest off to find where all the blood had gone, in the back of his vest where the bullet exited.
