Antarctica, the world’s greatest freezer containing 90% of ice in the world is melting. Trillions of gallons are draining into the oceans, sea levels are rising and this could be dangerous for our planet. The reason behind the large amount of draining of this ice is due to the vast amount of water that is locked by ice in Antarctica, some of the Antarctic ice sheets are more than 2 miles thick, and if they melt they will dramatically raise see level. Many people don’t realize that one of the ways to reduce global warming is by saving energy. Generating energy doesn’t happen on its own; in fact we use combustion of fossil fuels to produce energy. The word combustion by itself will give you a heads up of understanding the relation between energy and global warming. Combustion means burning; and burning fossil fuels is very important to us because it is our source of energy, but if we don’t help in saving energy, factories will burn more and more fossil fuels to produce more energy for us. The more the factories burn fossil fuels the more pollution it will cause, meaning more greenhouse effect due to the waste gases that is produced, which can cause a climate change. To reduce the burning of fossil fuels, we should take energy saving in consideration. This is why energy saving in my opinion is the easiest way that we can do to help reducing global warming. One of the best ways we can do that is by replacing our old regular incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs (cfl), since CFLs use 60% less energy than a regular bulb. Also we can turn off the lights and electrical devices that we are not using. Thus for a relatively fast solution many nations are using renewable energy initiatives as an alternative for fossil fuels. Resources for renewable energy include sunlight, wind, rain, tides, waves, and geothermal heat. While renewable energy accounts for a minority share of the world 's energy supply, it is also the fastest growing energy supply on the planet. Renewable energy is sought after because it 's a clean source of energy; that means it doesn 't directly produce greenhouse emissions or air pollutants. The best part is that we don 't need to compromise our planet or harm it. Now the question should be how can humans replace fossil fuels with renewable energy? Presently humans have the technology to be 100% renewable . The truth is our infrastructure was built around fossil fuels ' dependency. If we could convert our infrastructure to what 's known as a "Supergrid", we will be able to rely on clean
