Imagine that you are walking down the sidewalk and you turn around to someone who had picked you up and carrying you to an alleyway, but you could not help yourself because you did not know how to defend yourself or you were too scared of the consequences that would be shot towards you if you did. Like Pfender was brought to an old country road and men were trying to push her around when she pulled a knife, that is when they went after her. So she had gotten ahold of one of the men 's gun and fired a warning shot, but he was still coming towards her, so she shot him. She also could have been dead if she was not able to defend herself. “As of December 2014, women made up nearly 14% (about 10,300) of state prisoners convicted of murder or manslaughter and 8.5% (about 7,800) of those convicted of nonsexual assault” (Law). There are more assaults being committed due to less people knowing how to defend themselves. There are also many robberies that are committed today and the classic in movies is the guy in the ski mask stealing a woman 's purse , and if they knew how to defend themselves they would not be robbed. Another reason for self defense is people die for many reasons, but one should not be because of another person who was trying to purposely hurt you. Many cases the innocent pay for others consequences or the consequences for defending themselves, but that is not how it should be. For those reasons United States will need more laws to help people with self
