Mechanical Engineering Advancements

Imagine if, after being invented, no more progress would be made on a machine; no newer versions, no efficiency updates, no standardization, the world would be nothing. The world would be a hodgepodge of ideas, poorly knit together into the fabric of society, complete with missed stitches, frayed edges, and mismatched color schemes. Being an engineer is not only about making new machines; it is about being able to mesh many systems together, no matter how different, as well as about updating old systems. Engineering takes more than simply a proficiency with natural science, physics, and math, but also a creative and analytical mindset, to truly become one of the world real life problem solvers. One such mechanical engineer is Nikola Tesla, the man who actually invented the lightbulb, before another mechanical engineer, Thomas Edison, perfected it. Another is Kitaw Ejigu, and Ethiopian American engineer who invented the Global Positioning System, or GPS for short, while working for NASA. Also,there was Hedy Lamarr, who was not only a movie star in the 1930s and 1940s, but also invented a remote-controlled communication system for the government and gave us the theory that has built wireless communication such as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth today. Finally, there is Steve Wozniak, one of the founders of the Apple Industry, who is a computer engineering prodigy; while partnering with Steve Jobs, who handled the marketing of their PC computers, Wozniak not only modified the computers of their day, but also built them himself, an activity he had begun when he was only thirteen. These, of course, are not the only mechanical engineers, these are not even the most notable ones! There are many mechanical engineers who are equally remarkable, that have not been mentioned. In fact, there are still more engineers who are not as successful, but no less an engineer for their inability to make
