In the United States of America, it is a law that children from Kindergarten to twelve grade students have to go to school, but the question is that if those students in America does want to go to school. To expand the idea more, some students in America are just being forced to go to school, and on the article “Globalization”, it stated that America has the gap called “ambition gap”. What this means is that students does not have the desire to accomplish something in school and are more preoccupied in their other ambitions. According to Toffler in his quote, he says “The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who can 't learn, relearn, and unlearn.” This relates to the evidence, that although students lack the ambitions to stay in school, they can still learn and unlearn. An example of a person that did not want to go to school but accomplished something in life is Bill Gates. He dropped out of Harvard, and taught himself to create his own software and also his business (Biography.com). This example proves the first part of what Toffler is saying in his quote, but unlike other students, Bill Gates was rich before he went to school and after he dropped out. For this reason, the article “Globalization” is basically informing the American students to go to school for many reasons. In “Globalization”, it states that other countries are now in the same level of intelligence as the American students because of globalization. As a result, Americans have to learn that they have competitions all over the world. This connects to Toffler 's quote because students in America is taking advantage of education as a scapegoat to hang out with friends, and they have to unlearn that mentality and focus on education so that they could learn.
