Personal Narrative Essay: The Wizarding World Of Harry Potter

As I was walking down the street I noticed many interesting qualities of the buildings that surrounded me, each individual building came to a point with little windows in the top and the slanted roofs were covered in the perfect amount of snow. As I passed a large red wagon that read, "BUTTERBEER" I knew exactly where I was; "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter." This was a place I had always longed to go to and had much anticipated the magic that lied within it 's small perimeter. After I tried butterbeer, a favorite drink of the characters in the Harry Potter series, I spun around in surprise to see the Hogwarts Express steaming in all of it 's glory. Words cannot describe how thrilling it is to actually be in the shoes of a character, seeing …show more content…
There was a line that wrapped all around the building and around the next, so we knew that something good had to be inside. Waiting in line my brother and I were trying to figure out what was happening inside by peeking through the windows and talking to the people around us. The young couple behind us said that there was some type of show that went on inside and that was why it was taking so long. I couldn 't imagine what show they could make of a wand shop but I was intrigued so we stayed in line. As we were waiting my mom, brother, and I had began talking about what we were going to buy as our souvenir from Hogwarts. My brother had decided that he was going to get a wand and since he was going to get one, there was no point in getting a wand myself. The man finally turned around and we saw his face and long beard for the first time. He looked directly at me and said "Ah yes, I have been waiting for you. Welcome to Ollivanders, I am the wand keeper." He went on to ask me my name and he told me that he already knew that this was my first wand because he simply didn 't recognize me. "The wand chooses the wizard Miss Katie but it is not always clear why" was what he emphasized as he climbed up the staircase and chose a box at the very top of the shelves. He handed me a wand and told me the spell to try out to move one of the boxes he had on his desk. "Wingardium Leviosa" I yelled as a whole row of boxes flew off their shelves. That wand and the next 2 that I tried clearly weren 't for me. The wand keeper seemed stumped until he said "I wonder…" and picked out a box behind where the rest of the people in the room were standing. He carefully placed the wand in my hand and a gust of wind flew past me as music started to lightly play in the background. "My dear

Discuss an accomplishment or event, formal or informal, that marked your transition from childhood to adulthood within your culture, community, or family. As the pages of my favorite childhood story flutter through my fingers, memories of fantastical worlds flood my mind. I begin to read aloud about the four children, sent away to a mysterious house and the wardrobe that transports them to a magical new land. The tale is just as enchanting as I recall, but this time through the story, the magic I appreciate most is not found in the pages of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe.…
