NASA: The Benefits Of NASA

Improved Essays
Throughout the decades, NASA has made a plethora of breakthrough discoveries that not only shaped the way we study outer space, but also changed human beings’ outlook on life. In the recent years, our government has decided to cut funding to NASA and ultimately end the space shuttle program, creating the big debate of whether or not NASA is significant enough to be included in the United States budget. There are two sides to this issue; one side arguing that NASA’s space program benefits the U.S. and its people, and the opposing side arguing that the space program gives us no direct benefit. Through a Rogerian argument style, I will discuss why NASA deserves to have proper funding in order to improve science and create a better understanding …show more content…
To better understand life and how we as humans were created, the study of outer space is a must, because our planet is only a speck of dust within a giant vast universe. To only study planet Earth would not only limit our understanding of science and life, but would also put ourselves in danger. NASA studies the obstacles in space (meteors, black holes, etc.) and how they would affect our own planet if we were to come in contact with such obstacles. In addition to studying space and its relevance to our own planet, NASA helps us understand how planet Earth has developed over the years, and how Earth can change in the coming years. Next to the budget cuts, space exploration was cut completely, which very strongly limits the capability to understand other planets and what resources they produce that could be vital to future human survival. I personally want to write on this topic because space exploration and astronomy has been a major accomplishment of mankind. I have had a fascination with NASA since I was young, so the topic is familiar to me and I already possess some background information regarding what NASA does. To cut the funding of NASA and space exploration is limiting human creativity and is creating obstacles for any possible life changing discoveries in the …show more content…
The information I will require needs to be relevant, which may be one of my obstacles. Though there are many different NASA professionals who write articles regarding what they do and their research, I have to make sure the information is 100 percent reliable before I add it into my paper, which will preserve the credibility in my argument. Although it would also seem like a good idea to use older statistics as well to show how NASA shaped our country and how we understand science to this day, I need to stay on point by only using recent and relevant statistics to show how NASA benefits us during the current generation. I find that it may be easy for me to drift off-topic in my paper, so I am going to create a detailed outline to better structure my essay and remain on my

There are multiple astronauts on the space station with multiple launches a year, the price of using rockets could severely add up.
