The Words is a movie that can cause a bit of mystery and confusion. It's about a man named Clay Hammond, who wrote a book; which doesn’t sound very intriguing at first, but the story is full of layers. The overall the mystery is: is the story he wrote about him? Clay Hammond’s book was about a man Rory Jansen, who is an inspiring writer, but has a tough time coming up with interesting content. Rory comes across an old manuscript and plagiarized it as his own. The book Rory steals becomes a huge hit and outshines all of the other work he's produced. Rory is later on confronted by an elderly man who reveals that it belongs to him. He then tells Rory his personal life story, and how he came about writing the story. The Words is a sort of complicated, yet intriguing movie that may not be suitable for all audiences.
The characters in the story are portrayed with a sense of mystery. Clay Hammond is a successful writer who ends up explaining his successful book to a fan, Daniella. The mystery behind it is whether or not Clay Hammond’s book is about his life. This can viewed as one of the strengths in the movie, because it adds a sense of unknown to spice up the story. But, to people who prefer to know answers, this can add frustration. A strength within the movie is the untraditional storyline. Most movies have a clear beginning, middle, and end with a plot that is normally easy to understand. The Words makes the audience think, but in an intriguing way. It has all the components of the traditional movie, but it is portrayed in a more exciting way. It's a story that was written by a man who wrote about a man who wrote a story, which was stolen. Which sounds unbelievably confusing, but it makes sense when
