The Women’s West consists of a compilation of essays about the re-evaluation of the western history and the Western women. These twenty-one essays were firstly presented at the Women’s West Conference in 1983 and later edited by Susan Armitage and Elizabeth Jameson and turned into a book. It starts with an introduction essay by Armitage which points out the importance of the conference and the revision of the Western history through women’s eyes. Her aim by composing such collection of essays is illustrating how western history includes mythical and stereotypical
