The Wizard Of Oz

The Wizard of Oz, a classic MGM movie musical released in 1939, is a magnificent story that teaches us a lesson about overcoming our fears and developing confidence while embarking on the various paths in life in an effort to fulfill our goals and dreams. I am fortunate to have grown up in a warm, loving home surrounded by family and friends who have contributed and continue to encourage me to believe in myself and pursue my dreams. The theatre experience has been a vital part of my life since early childhood. From a young age my family and I attended numerous Broadway musicals. The cultural and educational experience I gained from these theatrical performances fueled my passion for the arts. I embarked on my journey, my yellow brick road, at the age of seven when I performed in a talent show, and although I was still somewhat shy and extremely nervous, it was an exhilarating experience. My theatre experiences have all taught me something along the way. I believe in striving for perfection which requires dedication, lots of hard work, and being open to new learning experiences. For months at a time, I rehearse each day, roughly four to five hours, learning the full script, my lines, and all the intricate details of staging the performance. I have learned time management by balancing school work (maintaining a 98 GPA), rehearsal, and personal time. I have learned to overcome challenges and obstacles when presented with them. I have learned to help solve problems or conflicts and have ameliorated my public speaking skills. This is my work ethic and how I approach my academic and theatrical endeavors.
