The Wild One Analysis

Decent Essays
Once again, Gemma Burgess made me connect with a character that I didn’t think I’d have a lot in common with. I think the title, The Wild One kind of threw me for a loop and I was expecting something else. Fortunately The Wild One turned out to be an incredibly sweet and heartwarming story about figuring out what makes you happy in life and going for it.

While Coco is the protagonist of The Wild One, we actually get updates on how the other girls like Pia and Angie are doing as they all still live together. Having enjoyed Angie’s story in Love and Chaos I’m glad to see that she’s doing well and is happy. Additionally, while I wasn’t a fan of Pia and her boyfriend Aidan in the previous books, The Wild One endeared me to their relationship.

I agree with the author’s purpose in the article “The Danger Lurking in Just One” by Jeannie Ralston. The author’s message is that teen drinking is very dangerous, even if it is only one drink. Teen drinking is harmful to teens because it affects your brain development, how your brain alerts you when in danger. For example, it affects how the frontal lobe is developed. “Not since you were a toddler learning to walk and talk has there been a more important time for brain development than your mid-teens through early 20s.…

Both of my parents were born in Nigeria and both of them identify with the culture extremely well. From language to history, food, music, and customs, the African culture is so rich. Although I would consider myself a Nigerian before an American, I still have plenty to learn about my Nigerian culture. Moreover, because I was not born there and have American tongue it is a bit difficult to learn and speak the language. Also, because I’ve only visited twice for a few short weeks, I am ignorant of Nigerian history.…

Additionally, “Political Science” exhibits ignorance as Newman claims how much better America would be without nuisances like Asia, Europe, and Africa. Arrogantly, he explains the inconveniences other countries possess without realizing the major impact declaring nuclear war would have. “Let’s drop the big one and see what happens” is a direct example of the song that exposes ignorance. “And see what happens” shows he does not know what he’s getting himself into. Even though nothing specific is described of the consequence of “dropping the Big One”, one can assume bombing the world would have a not so desirable result.…
