In “The Wife of Bath's Tale, Chaucer learned that women do have the capability of having more responsibility instead of being in the shadow of men. In one year's time, the knight was to return and say what he has learned of what women want the most. In the text, women wanted “wealth and treasure, honor, said some, some jollity and pleasure, some gorgeous clothes, and others fun in bed.” (Chaucer 71-73) So after asking a bunch of women of what they all wanted, he is in a bad situation because they all wanted different things. Eventually he runs into this foul, old woman who helps him realize the truth behind what women want.
