White Americans In The 1800s Essay

America was run by white males who constantly struggled between their own conscious on issues, and oneself advancement. This often left America struggling to make up in areas that were either equally or even more important than the self-benefits that the white males obtained. The white mans greed for self-advancement in America left minorities including other races and women at a standstill and not even a second thought. I do agree with the statement that the historian proposed after learning about minority struggles throughout this unit. The most important topic of the quote and issue for America in the early 1800s was economic status and advancement. Many white Americans only cared about the benefits that they will received therefore only looked out for themselves. In this time the status was determined by wealth, in order to be looked at as superior one must have a lump sum of money. White people being looked at as superior caused struggles for jobs because coloreds, women, and children were just workers to them. They did not want to continue to push slavery but they wanted more money which resulted in slavery continuing. This small assessment of slavery is not completely accurate, due to the fact of how long slavery took place in history. Due to the duration of this form of oppression it is looked at as a choice, it was option and not a necessity to continue slavery. America is looked at as the place of opportunity for many, and they did not give colored or other genders fair opportunity. Even after slavery ended colored faced other forms of being oppressed such as amount of payment, lively opportunities, equality among the people, and still being looked at as not a whole citizen or even a human
