The older one prefers the dehydrated biscuits and gravy at the school rather than the home cooked ones that my father prepares. I am not a “health nut”, but I do try my best to eat healthily and it is so hard to do so in this culture. My parents want fast meals that they can prepare at the drop of a hat. They do not care about the nutritional value that we need to have. On average, we have about three to four fast food meals a week. It hurts my heart to see how children and myself are eating, but I do understand why. My family is very active in the community and in sports. I do cheerleading which requires at least six to fifteen hours a week. My sisters have gymnastics six hours a week. When you factor in my college classes and helping my younger sisters with their homework, there is no time to get a decent meal. Especially when we have a fast food restaurant not even a mile away from our home. In conclusion, escaping the Western diet is harder than it sounds. The Western diet can be linked to various health problems mentally and physically. It doesn’t just affect us, but babies in the womb. If everyone knew the facts, not just the common ones, I believe that it could change our way of thinking and
