We The People Project Reflection Paper

The objective of the “We The People” project is to register the entire senior class of Pemberton High School as voters. My success in completing this objective has been somewhat limited, though. This paper will be constructed in seven paragraphs. These include an introduction, conclusion, and five body paragraphs that include: how the project was organized, the desired goals of the project, the relationship of this project to the citizenship and leadership training I have received in JROTC, the expectations of the project, and the actual outcomes of the product. The project caused me to gain knowledge on one of the most important rights a citizen has, and should uphold. The right to vote. It also put me in a position where I had to use my leadership skills in order to get students (many of which I did not know) to fill out a registration forms. I had to use decision making skills in order to figure out which students to approach first, what class to approach them in, and how to go about convincing them to fill out the form. I used time management to attempt to reach my weekly deadlines on time. Winning colors played a big role in getting students to agree to register to vote, as I needed to ascertain what their primary color was in order to adapt my argument in a way that would make it more likely to succeed. I also needed to use interpersonal relationship skills in order to relate to the specific person I was registering, so I could actually convince them. This project has showed me that not everyone actually wants to be a participating citizen and exercise their rights. I also learned that it is a lot easier to be one than I originally thought, and I plan to vote and exercise my rights in other ways in the
