Attempting to live by bread alone brings alive the ancient words of the devil “…command that these stones become loaves of bread.” (Matthew 4:4). What are the ways we try to make bread from stones? By investing all of our energy and resources into our jobs and career, family and social commitments. They things are not evil in themselves; rather they are quite necessary for us to be successful human beings. But it is bread of business, busyness and boredom. Yet, they are not our daily bread. Nursing is not only his or her source of food but also a source of peace and tranquility. How do we receive this “milk”? Through prayer, fellowship, service and most importantly the Eucharist.
