Messages are used to send information between employers, employees, stakeholders, and customers. This requires feedback to ensure the message was understood. Many municipal services depend on two-way communication in order to stay in touch with employees. Common examples of this use of communication is telephone, radio, messaging, or email. It allows supervisors to stay in touch with employees (Mosebrook, Houggy, Palmer Jr, & Spira, 1998). While it is used frequently in corrections facilities, two-way communication is commonly used daily with public transportation, construction, and aviation, just to name a few other areas is used. The way of communicating can differ from a hand held device to more complex systems, such as computers. Regardless of the system being used, the most common feature is that the system is compatible and works to support the purpose of the message being sent (Mosebrook, Houggy, Palmer Jr, & Spira, …show more content…
Its known as one-way communication because the information is transferred to the sender and stopped there. Two-way is similar as the source sends the information to a receiver, however the receiver can ask questions or give feedback. The digital age has changed the way everything is done. In the 1990’s businesses would handle things through one on one meetings, land line calls, or the postal service. In the current era, businesses handle things through cell phones, websites, media sites, or email. It provides a way of quick interactions and the exchange of information. It is a convenient and fast way to communicate. Many can not comprehend the idea of not having text messaging, email, or cell phones. A model is an effort to modernize or remodel the connection supposed to occur between the items being investigated. Even though models are assorted we can arrange them according to the reason for which they exist, in this case, their purpose. It has been recognized that when communication occurs, messages often circulate from both the receiver and the source simultaneously. Although there are many models of communication, Barnlund’s Transactional Model of Communication is the most applicable for demonstrating what takes place when the message is found to be presenting a problem, in the film ‘’Wag the Dog’’. Communication is one part sending, one part receiving, and one part analyzing a message - Or providing feedback about the message produced. Perhaps the more critical component to ensuring communication is successful is burdened by the sender of the message. This person plays an active role in the communication process, first and foremost by determining who the target audience is. This determination is necessary to enable the sender to understand, and therefore become empathetic to the target audience. Coupling this empathy with the realization of any communication barriers, the ability to observe non-verbal cues, and ultimately having the capacity to ensure the message is clearly communicated, the sender is armed with the correct tools…

The Italian communist Antonio Gramsci, imprisoned for much of his life by Mussolini, took these idea further in his Prison Notebooks with his widely influential notions of ‘hegemony’ and the ‘manufacture of consent’ (Gramsci 1971). Gramsci saw the capitalist state as being made up of two overlapping spheres, a ‘political society’ (which rules through force) and a ‘civil society’ (which rules through consent). This is a different meaning of civil society from the ‘associational’ view common today, which defines civil society as a ‘sector’ of voluntary organisations and NGOs. Gramsci saw civil society as the public sphere where trade unions and political parties gained concessions from the bourgeois state, and the sphere in which ideas and beliefs were shaped, where bourgeois ‘hegemony’ was reproduced in cultural life through the media, universities and religious institutions to ‘manufacture consent’ and legitimacy (Heywood 1994: 100-101).…
