Everyone changes a little or a lot during their life. In the novel “The Watsons Go To Birmingham-1963” two of the main characters named Byron and Kenny both change a lot. I think Byron changed the most on the inside and outside because he changes emotionally, physically, and he matures throughout the book.
First of all, Byron changes a lot emotionally. Byron was mean and inconsiderate at the beginning of the book but later on becomes nicer and more understanding. The first signs of this are when he buries a bird he killed. Now you may think it’s pretty mean to kill a bird, but he accidentally did it and it shows he’s becoming nicer because before he probably would have left it there. Another sign is when Byron saves Kenny from drowning. In chapter 13 it says that Byron held him while crying and kissing his head after saving him. It’s pretty normal to save your brother from drowning but what he did after was the change, because the old Byron probably wouldn’t have done most of those things. Byron also has a heart to heart talk with Kenny about his feelings and why he’s not being himself and Kenny starts to cry and in chapter 15 it says “Most of the time when I started sounding weepy and whiny he’d take

At the beginning of the book Byron and Kenny have to scrape the ice off the family car and Byron decides to kiss his reflection in the mirror. Little did he know that this was an extremely bad idea and he gets his lips stuck to the glass. It takes a lot of effort but Byron’s mom pulls him off and he loses a big chunk of the skin on his lips which is a physical change. Byron makes another bad decision when he gets a conk. A conk is where you use chemicals to alter the way your hair looks. Byron gets a conk and his parents aren’t very happy about it so Byron’s dad completely shaves Byron’s head. Also a lot later Byron shows Kenny that he grew a chin hair. These all show that Byron changed a lot

Kenny treats people better than Byron does because Byron was beating up Larry Dunn, Kenny shares his lunch and his gloves with Rufus and Byron had his lips stuck to a mirror and Kenny was trying to help him but if it was Kenny said “If he was stuck Byron would have done some cruel stuff to him”. Kenny tricked his mom into getting him another pair of leather gloves so he and his friend Rufus could both have a full pair. He told his mom he lost his gloves so he got a new pair and when he got the gloves that was the last pair he was getting for the rest of the year so his mom tied the gloves to his jacket so that he would not lose them. To begin, the two texts have different ways of describing the setting that led up to the event. In the text “The Watsons Go To Birmingham” the main character, Kenny, describes the day as hot and miserable. This is shown when he says “ I know it was Sunday because I heard Joetta getting ready for Sunday school. He also says to his mother, “ I wish I was back in our igloo in Flint.” These two quotes show that it was a miserably hot Sunday, especially when Kenny says that he would rather return to the freezing cold conditions of Flint rather than stay in his current location.…

Is the popular cliché “seasons change, but people don’t,” accurate? The vast majority of authors would disagree. Throughout written history, an excessively common storyline is of a protagonist changing themselves for the better in some way. One of the popular coined terms, ‘character development’, expressing the way that characters’ personalities shift and morph throughout a story, is proof of that. In Huckleberry Finn, I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, and Catcher in the Rye, various authors use character development and unique writing/plot devices to demonstrate that people change, especially as they grow and mature.…

Many studies show what personality traits can affect schizophrenia. John Forbes Nash Jr. showed an interesting personality trait that amplified his schizophrenic disorder. According to Capps (2004), his narcissism not only intensified his schizophrenia, but it helped in his recovery or repression of his schizophrenia. The movie, A Beautiful Mind, attempts to convey the life of Nash in a way that is understandable to all. The movie begins while he is in graduate school at Princeton University and it goes throughout his life, showing his falling in love with his wife, the birth of their first son, and his first admittance into a mental hospital.…
