Whether or not it is practical, culture in our country is forever changing, knowing the different lifestyles in Iraq is a necessity. Before September 9/11 racism, terrorism and prejudice were present, but never that extreme that it has become today. The military, government and the economy in Iraq consequently make a big difference in the United States. The war in Iraq is an important mission to win the hearts and minds of the people. To know and understand the culture there, which you are planning to embark on could be a key element of a mission. The lack of cultural diversity can be catastrophic, and can impede to the mission across the globe. The definition of Cultural Awareness is “their understanding of differences between themselves and people from other countries or other backgrounds, especially differences in attitudes and values.” From World War II to Operation Restore Hope, we have learned the conflicts and disasters; it brings when trying to gain access into another culture. Through the years of wars and disaster’s we have learned the do 's and don’ts to avoid conflict. Nevertheless, the Nation is still at large with terrorism, racism and prejudice at its worst, all due to cultural differences. When the military invaded Iraq and Afghanistan “culture” was not something, they were not concerned about. In Iraq, that so many are not aware of a huge cultural difference.
