Syrian people are fleeing their native country to Canada and other safe countries mainly because of the civil war, which has left their homeland in complete devastation. The war that has been relentless since spring of 2011, after pro-democracy turned violent when some teenagers were arrested and tortured for painting revolutionary slogans on a school wall. This caused hundreds of thousands of people to take to the streets, all over the country in a protest demanding President Assad’s resignation in July 2011. In 2012, things worsened and the country had officially fallen into a civil war. Rebel groups were formed to combat government forces to control cities. Now the conflicts are deeper and more complex as it has become not only a battle between those for and against President Assad, religiousness has become a part of this disaster, as well as countries all over the world backing multiple different sides of the conflict.
