Before the War of 1812 Native Americans separated into two main different sides the called the“Accommodationists” and the “Traditionalists”. The Accommodationists agreed with the white settlers and called for change in Native American ways, they wanted the industrialization of the land, and sought out innovative technologies. While the Traditionalists called for purity of Native American culture, and identity, thus completely disavowing the white settlers and their new technologies. Tecumseh and his brother Tenskwatawa both being “Traditionalists” called for the Union of Native Americans nations, to unite and resist against the white settlers which were taking their land forcibly. Tecumseh a skilled politician and an exceptional War Chief believed that the best way to defeat the white settlers was to wage a war against them, without the support of anyone. Regardless of following his older brother Tenskwatawa thought that the best way to defeat the settlers was to gain the support of a foreign nation to aid them. Native Americans at the end of this war, saw their entire world change, they had gone from the most powerful in the Eastern Regions to now isolated into the North Western Regions. In hope that the American and the White settlers would not eradicate them completely.
