He lived here in Mainz, Germany. in 1430 Gutenberg established himself in Strassburg until 1444. Some years later he returned back to Mainz.

Family friends-
Gutenberg’s parents were Freile zum Gensfleisch and Else Wirick zum Gutenberg. Johann’s exact birthdate is unknown. He was born into a patrician family. In 1428 his family was exiled as a result of a revolt of the craftsmen against the noble class ruling the town, and in 1430 Gutenberg established himself in Strassburg, where he remained until 1444.

Gutenberg’s metalwork skills were taught to Gutenberg through his uncle. His uncle worked in a mint and his skills were passed down to Gutenberg.

Closest friend’s parent- Gutenberg was famous for creating the first movable print typing press. The Chinese and Koreans were actually first to start their printing in 1040. Their printing press didn’t work because their language was very complicated and required a lot of letters for the press. They lost their idea of movable type printing and Gutenberg reinvented it. Gutenberg’s press was invented around 1439. His press allowed manuscripts to be mass-produced at relatively affordable costs.
