The Walking Dead: A Part Of My Cultural Identity

Do you know everything there is to know about yourself? Well not everyone does, as a matter of fact many people do not know they have a culture even though everyone undoubtedly has one. Culture is something that everyone has; the reason everyone has a culture is because everyone has to come from somewhere and each person is different. Everyone has their own cultural identity, while many haven't found theirs I have found mine. I have found out a lot about who I am, where I come from, and how my background and culture makes me the person I am today. My cultural identity is uninhabited because I like to combine pieces that do not exactly fit; which is illustrated through my hand wraps, chicken with rice, and The Walking Dead. My hand wraps represents my culture and me. Hand wraps are a long piece of cloth that fighters wrap their hands with to avoid too much wrist …show more content…
shows, is another part of my culture identity. In this show, the main character Rick Grimes wants to survive the “Walker” breakout, but “Walkers” stand in his way so he and his friends have to fight back. This is a very popular show on Netflix, which is what I use watch it. So far there are six seasons out, but season seven is coming soon. Believe it or not, the reason The Walking Dead is my favorite T.V show is because of all of its drama and violence. The Walking Dead is in a way a zombie show, so there is a lot of violence and blood. Since the “Walkers” are basically zombies, Rick and his companions have to struggle and fight every day to survive. The Walking Dead connects to me and my culture because it shows me what people have to do to survive. They are in a zombie apocalypse and they are changing through hard and challenging decisions. What is even harder is having to stay in control and not go insane, especially since there is no government or anybody to keep control. Watching The Walking Dead connects me to my culture and core

The three shows that will leave you on the edge of your seat, biting your lip, and wondering what will happen next are are The walking Dead, Empire, and Breaking Bad. The Walking Dead is my all time most favorite show of all time, simply because it is interesting and you never know what's going to happen next. The Breaking bad is different, to see a broke chemistry teacher become a drug kingpin with upward of 100 million dollars in savings is a story that nobody should miss. Empire is in a whole different category. Empire is a show with drama, suspense, great music, family problems, money obsession, God complexes, and power hungry musicians.…

In modern dramas, most of the time audiences can clearly distinguish which characters are good and evil. However, in Game of Thrones many of the characters are more like humans and are flawed making us become a lot more emotionally invested in them. We, as the audience, see all the good and evil that the characters have done throughout the show and we really can’t decide whether they are truly good or evil. By constantly keeping us intrigued to whether this character will do something horrific or have a moment of heroism makes the show that much more interesting. Also, by the fact that you can’t ever bank on what is going to come makes the show so much more captivating.…

Three years ago, I hopped onto the bandwagon to watch the renowned Television series ‘House’ - with the only exception being that I started with Season Two. Subsequently over time I lived the gruesome journey alongside the characters as they took on the darkest challenges of their lives. Watching the entire show was a breathtaking experience, but little did I know what was yet to come. I had decided to go back and watch the first season which I initially deemed fit to skip – and that is when my entire perspective of television changed. Watching the pilot episode left me numb.…

n the case of The Walking Dead, the survivors are actually monsters that were created by the apocalyptic environment; the monstrous qualities brought on by the environment truly do make these people monsters. This makes The Walking Dead important and relevant to real life, because it allows us to understand how people will do whatever is necessary just for their own survival. It shows us that when one is put into a threatening environment, one will do whatever necessary for one to survive, for example, it allows us to understand the events that took place in the 1972 Andes Flight 571 Disaster. Zombies in the movies were depicted as slow in mind, even in the use of language. This idea is still alive as an active today although there is an evolution…

In and of itself, humans take many things for granted, and conform themselves with their lives and do not see that it’s a blessing to live to see another day, and enjoying our moments with our loved ones. Then when it is all taken away from us we truly realize how blessed we were. As a final point, many of these modern-day situations do interrelate with warm bodies and the world of zombies, I believe that, that’s the reason why we have a such a big fascination with zombies because in some way we carry the characteristics of zombies, alienation, hope for a better life, and then we have our human side, the side where we neglect our situations and put them under the rug until they pile up and become deadly toxic for our lives. It all matters on how we choose to see our life, we can either see them as deadly rotting zombies, or we can see them as zombies that used to be humans and show them some…
