The Vs Simulation

Decent Essays
In the V Simulation there is many things I would have done differently. The three main things are referring back to the doctor’s orders, do a proper verbal assessment, and check the patient’s vitals. When I began to do the V simulation I went in having read everything however, there were many steps to be done to assess and to care for the patient and her wound. When I was doing the simulation I tried to remember everything that needed to be done and it caused much disorder in my care for the patient. When I did the verbal assessment my questions to the patient it had no order, if I were to redo the sim this is one of the main things I would try to better. The last thing I would do differently is to remember to do vital signs.

In the story of Taneisha Grant “When the Simulated Patient is for Real,” Grant realizes that her education will always continue a pounce her encounter with Mr. G because it does not matter what “race, gender, or socioeconomic” status the patient has (182). Thirdly, you want to make a graphic representation of the current process and this is where you will derive the possible failure modes. (Cronrath et al., n.d.). By making a graphic representation of the steps in the current process, step by step, you can then branch off of each step and identify where potential failures could occur. In the scenario presented, there where opportunities for errors all along the way from the initial verbal order, to no verification of medication names or doses and down to the patient not being continuously monitored throughout the process and…

My responsibility for this workshop was to proceed with a handover of a patient to an intern (played by Dr. Michael Adamson). This was a particularly disasterous session. My performance was not only unfit within the scope of academic criteria, but was clearly short of acceptable for a real-world SBAR. During the reading of the scenario I was daunted by the task of having to SBAR report a patient to admission at a hostpital, based on information I was reading for the first time; my practice with the hand-over system was minimal prior to the session.…

I attended the Bertha Strong Stroke Simulation event on March 1, 2016, at the Arizona State University Downtown Phoenix campus held at the Mercado building. I had attended this event in the past thought it would be interesting to compare my experiences. I was surprised to find that my first comparison would be the registration and receipt of materials needed to prepare for the event. It may have been due to familiarity with the process, but the current process seemed more coordinated. The registration process was different; it seems as though the old system had some issues as it has been changed slightly.…

A Respiratory Therapists role in long-term care facility and Homecare My time working at CCOH and RHCS was exciting and interesting. Although they are both respiratory therapist jobs, they each demonstrated something different. While CCOH showed how it is to work in a long-term facility and have consistent patient interaction. At RHCS driving around to the client’s place of business or residence to check on, or collect the equipment, made it personal able.…

The need for patients to describe their illness and symptoms in detail is not always as obvious as wanting to have their condition understood by a member of health-care staff. This can be an opportunity for the patient to portray their feelings and anguish towards the challenges in every day life, more of a emotional release mechanism and a way of justifying to themselves how well they are coping with managing their conditions and illness. Simply having the opportunity to vent their frustrations while in the presence of someone who will listen can have a dramatic effect on the patients well-being. Iberg J : Focusing. In Corsini R (ed): Handbook of Innovative Psychotherapy.…

Immediately after the performance I scored quite high on the LCJR, giving myself a 36/44. I believed that this can be attributed to being the second simulation but on reflection I believe I scored lower. The previous simulation was less related to mine than I had thought and while it was the same patient the main concern was completely different. However, just refreshing on my clinical skills in general did aid me in achieving a higher score than if I had been the nurse in the initial simulation. In “Noticing” I gave myself a 9 as I was unable to collect subjective data or gather information due to the uncooperative sister.…

It is my responsibility as a hospital administrator to keep my data secure, and whether that means hiring a IT security company or maintaining a high security software is my responsibility in order to stay within HIPPA guidelines. 2.…
