If the voting age would be decreased there would be more voters under the young adult category. Kamenetz sees that “legal age should be flexible and pragmatic with educational and cognitive requirements to show maturity.” If the voting age would be decreased there would be an increase of voters, including those under the age of sixteen.
The seconond argument of Kamenetz is that at 16 most people have had educational and cognitive requirements that would help them be able to make the best decsions. Kamenetz states that “they should be flexible and pragmatic and paired with educational and cognitive requirements for the exercise of legal maturity.” Lowering the voting age to 16 would help the legal age be more flexible with the education and cognitive abilities of their maturity.

According to kamenetz “there was a 38 percent reduction in fatal crashes among the youngest drivers” with 16 year olds going through the classes that are needed to earn a learners permit. By this time most 16-year-old have already had many first, so why not just add voting to it. Kamenetz states that by the age of 16 most people have already had their “first jobs, their first drinks, and first sexual initiations.” Why not just lower the voting age? So 16-year-olds can add voting to one of their first, voting would be an excellent first to be able to add to the list.
The last is that by lowering the voting age to 16 we will be helping them think about their future and what they want from it. People expect 16-year-olds to have high expectations for themselves and their future, by lowering the voting age it will help them be able to decipher for their future. Kamenetz states “the more we treat teenagers as adults, the more they rise to our expectations.” If the voting age were to be lowered to 16 they will be able to have high expectations for themselves and their
