It is evident that in “The Visit”, Durrenmatt has used a variety of contexts to mock what was happening in Europe during the mid-nineteen fifties and uses it in such a way that he forces the readers into introspection. Context therefore makes the play as a whole much more relatable, and the reader can easily comprehend what Durrenmatt’s intentions were. In conclusion, the context provided readers with insight on what prompted Durrenmatt to structure the play the way it is and it enabled them to effectively understand his intentions behind writing “The …show more content…
