In Amy Chua’s excerpt “The Violin” is written from Chua’s perspective on how she interacts with her daughter when getting taught how to play the Violin. From the beginning of the excerpt you can already see how the relationship between Chua and her daughter are. To reinforce what Mr. Shugart Chua’s daughters violin teacher told her daughter she screams to her daughter “RELAX!” ( Chua 47-48). Doing this make her daughter a annoyed of her mother sometimes. Chua pushing her daughter so much makes her daughter become more aggressive towards her mother. Her daughter would tell her to “Just turn off your brain”(Chua 47-48) because her mother is pushing her so much that she is frustrated and doesn’t want her to speak again..Aside from all of this the mother and daughter still have much love for one another away from getting taught the violin.

In the two stories, both mothers were trying to push their daughters to reach their fullest potential, but then seem to regret pushing their daughters so hard.
