Othello Argumentative Essay

If Shakespeare would have written Othello in a different genre than there would be quite a dramatic change in the understanding of the play/poem. I personally feel that if would be more understandable if it were written in a novel form. This is because there would be more detail of the characters, more details of the setting, and more details of what the characters are physically doing. There would be the same amount of dialogue since there is quite a lot of dialogue in novels. While at the same time there would be a reduction in some things the characters in Othello say beucase they dont have to describe their own feelings. In novels the narrator would describe the character's feelings. Such as Cassio's last line in the play he describes his feelings, “This did I fear, but thought he had no weapon, For he was great of heart.” (5. 2. 423-424). Cassio expresses his emotions as he shares what he thought of Othello and how he was upset to see Othello do what he did. Also as another example, “Villainy, villainy, villainy! I think upon 't, I think. I smell 'y! O Villainy! I thought so then. I'll kill myself for grief! O villainy! Villainy!” (5. 2. 227-230). Emilia is showing her anger and sadness in theses lines. The “ended”, “depended”, “gone”, and “on” would not necessarily be ethere because they would not necessarily have to rhyme. Which I feel that the poem side of Othello may have been part of the story that might have tripped people up. If it was written as a novel than I belive that the story would make some more since to the audience because if written as a novel it looks similar to the stuff that student's and other individuals see daily. Which helps them relate to the characters and situations which then helps them understand what is happening and taking place in the play or
