Professor Cavalier
The village In the movie The Village the people live in a village by the name of Covington. Now Covington seems to be a tiny village in 19th century Pennsylvania, that’s occupants go about their daily lives afraid of the creatures that live in the woods which is why they don’t go into the woods and are instructed since infancy by the elders that control the village that the monsters do not come out of the woods and the villagers do not go into the woods. So the village of Covington builds a big defense around the village with men in watch towers meant to watch for the monsters referred to as “those we don’t speak of”.

In the movie it is revealed that the group of elders which consisted of about twelve men and women are actually part of a plot conspired in in the 1970 by the head elder “Edward Walker”. After attending counseling for those who are grieving. All who are in on this conspiracy have experienced traumatic events all surrounding the murder of close loved ones. So these conspirators decide to create a town in the deep of the woods which is actually a wildlife preserve away from the modern life they once lived in with the idea that they are protected and able to sustain themselves. See this is a good and bad thing for the elders because unexplained deaths are tragic, yes, but it also helps to support the cause of keeping them away from the monsters that lie in the woods. Such as Ivy Walker the blind daughter to the head Elder Edward walker. Whom hold Lucius son to another elder in high regard and affections. When Lucius is stabbed by Noah a man with developmental and learning disability out of jealousy, Lucius falls ill with infection and will die if he does not get the proper medication. Edward goes against the rules of all the elders, and agrees to let Ivy pass through the forbidden forest to go and get medicine for luscious. This is where before she goes Edward shares with her the big secret of the village but is not completely convinced because she is so entrenched in the belief of the village. As Ivy reaches the end of the woods she reaches a wall that she climbs to get out of the
