Who Should be credited for discovering america

There are many sides that people have about who found America. This paper will be talking about the Vikings side. The Vikings were the first people to find America and the evidence below will show why.

How they could of found america?

The first way they could have found America is because they were good sailors and were exploring the world. They build good and stable boats that could go far and fast. They were pillaging other towns with no defense and stealing their gold and resources to get more powerful. They sailed all over the world and found tons of new places. In this process, they could have run into America and saw that we lack gold to give so they left. They wanted to find new land because they have been out into the sea for a long time. So to fulfill their love of wine, they went to find land with lots of grapes. The vikings sailed a lot and we think they found America in the process as said by history.com-(See bibliography for the link)

“The Vikings build fast ships for war” as said by (BBC, Vikings at sea). There were two different ships they are mainly known for Long Ships and Dragon Head Ships. The Long Ship can hold many men, up to 12, and can go very fast. The Dragon Head Ship is like a battleship, it moves somewhat fast but works well for carrying an army and attacking a big kingdom. Mostly they would use the Long Ship for their small trades! So this is another way they could've found America. Their ship speed and strength could have helped them in finding america.

However, America was found by several different people before Christopher Columbus came to what is now known to be called the United States of America. For example, Vikings, Aztecs, and Cherokee Indians were a few of the people that came before Columbus and lived in America. After Christopher Columbus, who was exploring for Spain, told who he was working for what he had discovered and came back with items that could be good for trade, then Spain started to explore America more and more. Many think that Columbus found the New World looking for new undiscovered land but he was in fact trying to find gold and an all-water route to Asia as well as Queen Isabella’s mission for spreading Christianity to Asia. Columbus Day shouldn’t be celebrated because he was not actually the person to discover the Americas and Columbus thought he landed in Asia.
