The Vigils Moral Lesson

Short Summary: In the beginning Archie and Obie are sitting watching football players and talking about assignments to give to kids. These assignments are for the Vigils who are a gang in the school. Archie, who is the official assigner of the Vigils, gives assignments to Jerry Renault, Roland Goubert, and a few other kids.
When Jerry’s friend, Roland Goubert, gets his assignment he is told to go to a classroom and unscrew everything until it’s about to fall off. The next day everything in the class falls apart and The Goober (Roland Goubert) is mentally hurt and is never quite the same. Jerry’s assignment is to not sell chocolates for the annual school chocolate sale for 10 days.
Before the chocolate sale started, Brother Leon, the headmaster, asked Archie and the Vigils to make sure the chocolate sale is a success. Archie agreed to this. After the tenth day of Jerry’s assignment Jerry still wasn’t selling chocolates so Brother Leon got mad at the Vigils. The Vigils tried very hard to get Jerry to sell the chocolates, but they never succeeded.

People were buying tickets for either Jerry or Emile to punch each other in different places. After a few punches Jerry was already beat up a lot and Emile Janza was still able to fight. A Ticket was pulled out that said, “Janza, low blow to the groin.” That shot was illegal so Jerry blocked it even though he wasn’t supposed to. This block made kids angry. While this was going on, Obie, one of Archie’s assistants, saw Brother Leon in the distance. After that, ambulances showed up and Archie was talked to by another teacher who was notified about the fight. Before Archie got in trouble he was taken away by Brother Leon.
