The US military carried out poor military strategies and tactics. According to the article “How Much Did the Vietnam War Cost”, it explained, “The Department of Defense reports that the United States spent about $168 billion dollars in the entire war including $111 billion on military operations and $28.5 billion on economic and military aid to Saigon regime.” With so much money spent in the war, the US still lost. The amount of money invest into it was seen as useless. Back to the documentary, it mentioned, “Communists capture 5 billion dollars worth of military equipment from the Americans.” Over $110 billion dollars were spent on military weapons. The US failed to even protect its equipments and let the communists get control of it.
