“The Veldt”, Ray Bradbury’s work from the 1950’s, offers a particular perspective of parenting that is relevant to today 's society; parents, who so often claim responsibilities for the positive outcomes in their children 's lives are also guilty of raising revenge-powered and spoiled beings. In multiple situations, children may feel powerless against adults and create their own mental fantasies in which they have total control over any adult who does not give them what they want. Bradbury poses that an adult may cause these fantasies to be triggered when they do something like forbid a child from getting something they really want after they spoil them. His parents did not like the idea of their son playing a violent game with adult ratings because they didn 't find it suitable for him; this idea didn 't sit well with their dearly beloved son at all. Daniel snuck out of the house one night and bought the game without either parent knowing. While stuck at home because of a staphylococcus infection, Daniel would sometimes play for up to 18 hours straight. His mother caught him playing one day and as a punishment, his father locked up his game in a safe which also held his 9mm Taurus PT-92 handgun. About a week later, Daniel used his father 's keys to unlock the safe and take his game, along with his father’s handgun. Daniel then spotted his parents relaxing on the couch and went up behind them to say, “ Would you close your eyes, I have a surprise for you”, and then proceeded to shoot both his

Every child craves the taste of defiance towards their parents. Adolescents come to an age where their parents advice doesn't seem to influence them as much as it used to. When I was younger, I was always extremely well behaved. My parents friends would always remark about how I was so polite. When children are so used to doing the right thing, being disobedient is exhilarating, even if it's for the simplest of offenses.…

Spoiled Rotten: Parents give, Children take, Everyone loses Watching a Netflix documentary “Living on One Dollar” last winter with my family made us reevaluate how we were living our lives. My husband and I grew up in single parent homes and my husband, born and raised in Mexico, especially knew what it was like to live life below the line of poverty. My 7 year-old son on the other hand had a different point of view. Being into Bear Grylls from “Man vs. Wild,” my son saw the people living in Guatemala as “survivors” on a show instead of reality, making us laugh yet, cringe on the glimpse of how this next generation thinks.…

As both stories have a closely related subject and purpose, it is with no surprise that their structures share many similar aspects although they have a few differences. First of all, both stories are told from the story teller’s point of view which is also the protagonist in both cases. Moving on, both stories have linear timelines. The stories are both composed of two parts, the first one being a story of their childhood memories where bullying have started and the second one being a jump many years later as the characters of both stories have matured to an adult age. At that point in the stories, the characters meet in foreign land both times although it is clearly unplanned by any of them.…

What people seem to forget when reading these articles is the fact these children had access to a rated M for mature video game and a loaded gun. Each one has to be more interesting and stimulating then the last one. While there are good games out there that help our children to read, add and learn a new language, there are plenty out there that can teach a child that it’s fun to be a gang member, steal and shoot people.
