Liberty, equality, and democracy are considered to be the core values of our American political culture and most Americans agree that they are fundamental ideals, which the government should respect as well as emphasize in their policies. However, our political parties often prioritize these core values differently through various interpretations depending on each of their political ideology. Loretta Sanchez’s stance on Gun Violence prevention is a vital issue to me for this election because there has been too much bloodshed over the past couple of years due to gun violence. Discrimination is one factor that has led to such tragic events. Even though guns are meant to be used in self defense under the 2nd Amendment, the use of violence and massacres have led me to believe that guns should be restricted. We need to keep each other safe as well as protecting the innocents from becoming victims of one of the biggest factors in the death of Americans (“Issues”). On the contrary, Kamala Harris’s standpoint on providing a greater access to higher education is one of the most important issue to me for this election because everyone deserves the right to the American Dream and be successful, regardless of where they came from and their backgrounds. By providing access to higher education, there would be a greater initiative to obtain the education that would greatly benefit society as a whole and make the majority of people more active in politics as well as informed citizens (“The …show more content…
After analyzing the voting behavior patterns in course readings and class, I predict that Hillary Clinton will win the presidential election. This predicted result will profoundly affect the issues I care about because Hillary Clinton’s proposal; her stance is a clear reflection of what I support. Hopefully, she can help propel progress to the issues if she wins the general election. In contrast, the reason why Donald Trump isn’t as popular among the public as Hillary Clinton is because he is only appealing to the white middle class working families who are more conservative than the rest of the population. In addition, his approach on immigration and commitment to building a wall at the border of Mexico, that forces them to pay for it, is a bit extreme (“Donald J. Trump Position”). The way he handles this issue isn’t going to maintain a stable and benevolent neighboring relationship with Mexico as well as other Islamic countries. This is why most Latinos support the Democratic Party over the Republican Party. Donald Trump’s mannerism and harsh sexist criticisms against women and minorities is only helping the Democratic Party and Hillary Clinton to strive.
