Why there are differences in the health and personal status of people in America? Are you belong to the other cultural group who has own behaviors, beliefs, values, traditions and symbols the group accepts, generally without thinking about them? Diversity is a result of the influx of diverse cultures; the United States is rapidly becoming multicultural and multilingual. "The term transcultural nursing was coined by Madeleine Leininger in the 1950's" (Lewis, et al., 2014, p. 24). Transcultural nursing is a defined study focuses on the similar methodology and scrutiny of cultures and subcultures. The model minority perspective poses a distinct sociocultural context in which Asian Americans may understand appraisals of their race or ethnicity as helpful or harmful to their operation in important domains. Although when an individual may recognize that one's race or ethnicity is necessary to functioning, the findings emphasize this perception may not necessarily translate to improved wellbeing for all Asian American individuals and ethnic groups. Cultural differences exist in how well patients and co-workers believe they can communicate with their with their colleagues and health care provider. Communication issues include not understanding the health care provider, having questions but not asking them, and the opportunities for miscommunication and conflict can occur. Consider a holistic care which encompasses the learn assessment skills for different cultural groups, including cultural beliefs and practices, and incorporate this knowledge into planning nursing care.
