In 1999 Nick Swinmurn founder of Zappos was walking around in a San Francisco shopping mall looking for a certain type of shoe and he wanted it in different colors. He found the shoe in his size but not the color he wanted. One store had the correct style and not the correct color and the other store had the correct color and not the correct size. Nick spent an hour looking for the shoe he wanted but left the mall empty handed. When Nick made it home he decided to look for the shoe online and ended up empty handed again. Nick noticed that some small time stores carried the shoe but he want to purchase it from a major distributor. Nick decided to quit his day job and start an online shoe retailer and this started the creation of Zappos. …show more content…
The founder wants the atmosphere of his organization to be fun and worthwhile. The CEO stated these words of such: “If you get the culture right, everything will fall into place automatically.” The Zappos family was defines to develop their culture, their brand, and business strategies. As this organization hire new employees, the core values are instilled in every employee and with the culture they stand by each employee will have a performance evaluation that will be based on how well he or she represents and makes decisions based on the core values.
The 10 core values are what each employee must live by as long as they are employees of Zappos. Let’s elaborate on the 10 core values. 1) Deliver the WOW through service, 2) embrace 3) create fun and a little weirdness, 4) be adventurous, creative, and open-minded, 5) pursue growth and learning, 6) build open and honest relationship with communication, 7) build a positive team and family spirit, 8) do more with less, 9) be passionate and determined, and 10) be humble. When the 10 core values were established the unique style to get the job done
