Mr. Miller says, “They deserve a reward because they have to overcome challenges that normally people do not face, showing up might be their hardest challenge some days.” Special needs children deserve the same treatment and reward process as the rest of the kids to allow them to feel included in the activity. As Ms.Benoit says, “They should get the same reward as all the other kids, if not it wouldn’t be fair.” Not all disabled children or older teens are able to participate in the same way a nondisabled child is, because of this reason it will never truly be fair for the child with normal capacities to receive equally based trophies. A nondisabled child has more ability to achieve above and beyond while a disabled child might have some certain complications that do not allow them to achieve anything other than regularity. Regularity to a handicapped child might be their above and beyond. By attempting to make it as fair as possible the presenter of the trophies should divide the rewards into two separate category systems. An achievement for the nondisabled child and an achievement for a disabled child, since their achievements could vary tremendously.
