Too often has technology made extravagant promises to make our students smarter at a faster and cheaper rate. It feels like some sort of overnight miracle, use technology and magically all your problems will go away. It’s not that simple, however we have finally entered a time where technology is used to open doors never before seen. We as educators are open and eager to use technology as a tool that can change the nature of learning.
The introduction of technology into the classroom has become the new norm. Schools are constantly seeking ways to foster meaningful learning experiences and using technology, as a teacher, tool and partner can be the way to success. Project-based learning uses technology tools so students will be able to acquire and practice their problem solving skills as they work to find, process and reflect on the information they have found online. Another new trend is creating an online learning classroom. Each teacher will have a website, considered their online classroom where they can post homework, student can turn in assignments or get resources for class. The most buzz has been around game-based learning. This style of teaching makes learning fun and stimulating through the use of interactive games. While other forms of technology have helped math and science students visualize and model results in graphic ways.
