To enhance and amend the legislation around driving while using a mobile phone so that it also applies to other distractions caused by devoting your attention to your hands. The problem is that while it is obvious that the risk of a car crash is high when using a mobile device while driving, yet there is evidence that accidents are common when your attention is towards your hands either on a GPS, eating/drinking, music stereo and smoking. This goes under the three main types of distractions such as Visual (taking your eyes off the road), Manual (taking your hands off the wheel) and Cognitive (taking your mind off of driving). Amending the legislation so that it is illegal to use other devices and items, as well as mobile phones, will make the roads safer to drive on.

It only points out television display units and mobile phones and leaves out the other major distractions such as eating, smoking, and other general activities; that involve your attention to be diverted form the road. One of the biggest flaws in the legislation is that Bluetooth communication is still allowed.
