The biggest barriers to the use of evidence-based practice (EBP) in a clinical setting are knowledge and resources. Of the described EBP models the ACE Star model most resembles the framework used within our system. The ACE Star model is a five step process which includes in order, knowledge discovery, evidence summary, translation into practice recommendations, integration into practice and evaluation (DeNisco & Barker, 2016, p. 467). While EBP information and guidelines are regularly reviewed and provided for our nurses and practitioners, there are sometimes barriers to completing them.
