For my observation a friend and I went out to eat this past weekend at a pretty small, but very nice, restaurant. The restaurant had an upstairs bar where we had the opportunity to go because it was first come first serve. We sat at a table right in front of the bar so that we could watch television as we ate. The girls did a lot of complimenting of each other’s outfits and hair, while touching them at times. The guys did a lot of shoulder bumping and patting each other on the shoulder to show a sense of appreciation for another. For proxemics, they were all standing and sitting close with one another. There were two couches that could fit two people on each; a table for two behind that and

Going into this I figured there would be one of two outcomes. Those outcomes being the person getting up and leaving or going to another table or the person asking me what I was doing and why I was sitting there. As it turns out I did end up with one of those outcomes.…
