While Connor is faced with several conflicts during the story the largest one is person vs, society. As a strong opponent to being unwound Connor goes against society's beliefs on unwinding. When he escaped his unwinding he went AWOL. Though society portrayed this as a very criminal action, this was like a spark starting a wildfire for the unwinds. When they arrived at the graveyard everything was under control; although it seemed like a peaceful place trouble was brewing amongst the citizens. The book proves this furthermore when it says, “Furious kids begin to arrive at the general's jet. Get him! Get him!
