However, there are actions that we engage ourselves in that are not part of us but rather, are purely accidental. These just happen, and are on many occasions not in the control of oneself. The making of oneself, occurs as a continuous and a progressive process that does not stop.
Personal identity is characterized by what we do in a bid to self-actualize. There are key actions as well as decisions that one engages in and that are directed towards facilitating the generation of a different selves that are characterized by specific values. The identity of the self is evident in what one does in a bid to fulfil a given path in one’s life. The pursuance of projects that are long term is, further, characteristic of the self.
