The first thing that has ever gotten me to start thinking about the issue was when I had to read “Amnesty” by John Kavanaugh, who is a Roman Catholic priest and professor of philosophy, for class. “Amnesty” is about illegal immigration and how Kavanaugh feels that the U.S. is unjust when it comes to dealing with them. I now think that the U.S. goes easy on illegal immigrants, because if they were there wouldn’t be “12 to 14 million” (38) of them living in the United States. I also don’t feel sympathetic towards the parents that get deported from their children, because they knew what they were getting themselves into when they came here illegally and then had children. Another thing I have a problem with is that we are trying to legalize all these people, when there are citizens that need our attention a lot more than people that aren’t illegal. I’m not set in my way about this subject at all, so it could change sometime down the road. I do want to do more research, have a clear understanding about what all the issues are and read about it from different points of views, so I can have a better view on this topic as a whole, which will lead to a better argument, but at this moment I don’t think the U.S. should allow undocumented immigrants to work towards
