The United States Should Not Enforce Gun Control Essay

Guns have been around for almost 700 years. Most people use guns for hunting to supply their family with food, to protect themselves, and for many other reasons. The government is freaking out now days because the United states has had a few incidents with gun violence. A few examples would be when there was the movie theater shooting in 2011. Also the many school shootings that have happened in the past few years. So because of these events the government wants to basically take that away from United States Citizens with gun control thinking it will help control gun violence. The United States Government should not enforce gun control on United States Citizens. The second amendment clearly states that US Citizens have the right to bear arms. Because of this amendment, “American citizens have the right to guns in their homes to protect their families”(Leahy). Any American would want to be able to protect their loved ones and close friends. “Gun ownership is an American tradition older than the country itself and is protected by the Second Amendment; more gun control laws would infringe upon the right to bear arms”(Gun Control). The US government is trying to enforce gun control on American citizens. With gun control, we would not be able to use our guns freely if we even had them.
