Same-sex marriages was legalized in the summer of 2015, however Ayotte opposes same-sex marriage and adoption by same-sex couples. She believes that marriage is between a man and a woman and thinks it's unfortunate that her state has made a different decision on that. She was quoted saying, “Many of you who are out there who are out there working at the state level, or running for state office, I commend your efforts to repeal that law here in the state of New Hampshire and I think that's very important. Ayotte favors passage of a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution and believes that Congress should end the process of earmarking, designate (something, typically funds or resources) for a particular purpose. Ayotte also believes that in order to counter the federal government's debt and deficit problem, every government department needs to cut its budget by twenty percent from current levels. Some may cut more, and some may cut less.
There are many social issues nowadays. It has been mentioned before that Ayotte is against abortion. She is pro-life, and believes that abortion should be prohibited except in cases of rape, incest, or danger to the life of the mother. She argued a case before the US Supreme Court defending our parental notification. Ayotte also voted for reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act in 2012 and lead the bipartisan effort to renew it.
Kelly Ayotte is an amazing United States Senator. She feels strongly about every issue and defends her positon no matter what, which makes her a crowd favorite. She is currently running for her second term in the senate and was a possible presidential candidate. Though I do not agree with some of her positions on issues, I do commend her passion.
